Maria O’Lenick, Children’s International School Director, is responsible for fostering an environment that allows children, their families, and the staff to develop to their full potential. Guide staff in recognizing progress/variables in children’s development, inform families, and make appropriate referrals if needed. Establish and maintain team building among all classroom teaching teams and whole center staff by meeting regularly. Oversee ongoing staff/family communication: daily communication, children’s progress reports, and family conferences. Be available and accessible to families every day, and respond to family concerns. Establish and sustain a sense of community through family involvement. Plan and lead family social and educational events to build community and involve families. Maria responsibilities are also guide staff in orienting families to classroom routine, curriculum, and communication systems. Ensure that all licenses and permits are current. Assure a clean, safe, child-ready center at all times. Substitute in classrooms to maintain ratios and gain exposure to other programs, as required. Lead and supervise teaching team through communication, collaboration and discussion of individual children’s needs, services, and curriculum planning.
Maria re-joined Children’s International School as a Director in September 2016. Maria has a long career in Early Childhood Education starting in 1972 in Peru her native country as a Teacher and Center Director, in USA she was Teacher and Director from Head Start, Director for Children’s International School, Assistant Director and Director at Bright Horizons Family Solutions at the IDB and a Childcare Centers Consultant. This long career working with children, became a passion to keep Maria for many years to came in the field.
Maria holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Pontifical Catholic University from Peru and Professional Childcare Certificate from The School of Child Care. She feels very proud working for Children’s International School.
